This client wanted a canopy built over their existing deck to provide shade without blocking light into the kitchen and dining room. The solution involved designing the deck roof with a specific angle and size, along with an open trellis portion between the roof and the existing home. This design provided the necessary shade while still allowing ample natural sunlight into the home. The addition created a large, shaded area on the deck, completely transforming how the space is utilized. The detailing matched the existing style of the house, incorporating heavy metal brackets for ease of construction and aesthetic appeal.
